Chapter IX

EVERYTHING RETURNS

Daily all eyes are turned to the sea looking for the white sails of the San Antonio, long overdue now in its return with the greatly needed supplies. When spring comes Juan tells Old Father he knows the ship will arrive soon. "Why are you so sure?" Serra asks. Because, Juan tells him, "The San Antonio is the only thing that has not returned to its own special place."  Haven't the sea wolves, the butterflies, the roses all come back?
